The wait is over, the new and much improved LibGuides widgets have arrived. The widgets are the unsung heroes of LibGuides - they enable you to embed you LibGuides content anywhere on the web, thereby increasing the visibility (and usefulness) of your content. They are the best "advertisements" for your LibGuides.

The new widgets are much faster, and allow for greater customization. Some of the new features are:

• "New" and "Popular" tabs are now optional. You can pick between two menu options for your widgets: "Featured Guides | About" and "Guides | New | Popular | About". The first option is better if you are creating a widget with specific content for a specific discipline, while the second option is more appropriate for general widgets you create to advertise your LibGuides system.
• "Search the Library Catalog" searchbox is now optional. If you don't want to include the searching of your catalog inside the widget, now you don't have to. It will save you about 30 pixels of real estate, too!
• Widget background color is fully customizable! Yes, it is true! Pick from thousands of color options by supplying a hex RGB value for the background color (i.e. FF9911, 3366FF etc. you get the idea)
• You can put a randomly selected guide inside the widget. This is great for creating an "advertise LibGuides" widget to put on your library site, or anywhere on the Internet.
• Last but not least - the new widgets are only 10KB (vs 50KB for the old ones). This means they will load lighting-fast, wherever you insert them.
